Becoming are go to knives

These knives came very sharp right out of the box. The blades are a thinner design which I am finding easier to cut with. The handles are not slippy and you can grip the knife well with them. They also clean up easily with little effort. My wife and I have both been using these on a daily basis and haven't noticed any dulling as of yet. For that reason I haven't had to sharpen them yet. I have mixed feelings on the holder. It is convenient to use and does protect the knives well it's just that sometimes I find myself having to move the knife to the another groove to get it to fit right. I will more than likely just get used to that over time. I have been using the slicing knife as a steak knife and wish I could buy a set like those for that reason. I like it is non serrated and it works great. I hope this set keeps holding up to the daily routine since we both have been grabbing these to use over the others we have. If something does happen to them at this price I will definitely be replacing them if needed.

Decent knife block with good quality knives

This is a really great knife set, they come very sharp and are easy to sharpen as needed. I like the variety of knives and the kitchen shears, those are always needed. You receive a total of four knives and one pair of kitchen shears. I’ve researched other knife blocks and some have a sharpener built in, this does not but it’s still a nice quality knife block. This is a good value for the money spent. Additionally the entire top of the knife block is a set of straight openings which means you can place the knives wherever they fit. You don’t have to search around for the correct slot. The knives are easy to clean. I always wash them by hand instead of using the dishwasher as that dulls the blade. Additionally, I do feel that the block is fairly light, I wish it would have been a little heavier to prevent any knocking into it and falling over. I feel like the handles of fake wood could look a little bit better and that’s why this only got 4 stars but overall this is a good knife block.

Quality Knives with a Sleek Design!

I ordered this particular knife set because they don't take up much space on my counter. The high carbon stainless steel feels solid, and the knives themselves are decent and ultra sharp for everyday kitchen tasks. The price point is good, and you really do get a quality product for what you pay. The wood grain handles give them a nice look that fits in well with other modern finishes in a kitchen. The only thing to keep in mind is that there is not a traditional wooden block included. This is more so a hard plastic material, though it still does a fine job of holding the set securely.

Space saver

I wish I had seen this small set before I bought my big butcher block set a few months ago. That set is the same brand and it’s great but it takes up a lot of space. Plus, you know how you get a “favorite”, go to knife, I really only use one or two of that big set. This small set is great. It has just the few knives that you’ll use every day. Each one is nicely balanced and made of carbon stainless steel. They are dishwasher safe which is amazing great feature. The scissor is not the most durable that I’ve used but it’s fine for opening bags, etc.The set is nicely designed and pleasing to look at. I believe it also comes in white as well. There are more slots than knives so you can add more to the set if desired. The block has drainage on the bottom as well if you don’t like patiently waiting for them to dry before storing. These are a great option if you are short on counter space.

Great set of knives for everyday use

Are these Chef Gordon Ramsey worthy? No. But are they great for normal people? Absolutely!Let’s start with the holder. Most knife holders have the knives at an angle with takes up more counter space and few kitchens have counter space to spare. This set is straight up and down and just big enough to fit the set, so it has a tiny counter footprint (see photo next to canister set). Now for the thing I’m obsessed with— the scissors and scissor hole! (I really need more excitement in my life, don’t I?) I use scissors all the time in the kitchen, which means getting them out of the drawer. This is so handle to have a scissor hole in the knife holder! Need them? Boom! They’re right there! And a bottle opener IN the scissors? Are you kidding me? And between the handles, those jagged teeth? Those are for opening jars, cracking nuts or even cracking crab legs. Every house needs a pair of “Kitchen Only” scissors and now I have them. Now for the knives—Four knives. Basic. The smallest is a little big for a paring knife but it works. Then you have the butcher knife, pie knife and veggie knife. I have no idea if that’s what they’re called, but that’s what I use them for. They are strong enough and sharp enough and look good. Will they hold their sharpness? Time will tell, but I have a sharpener, so it won’t matter to me; I’ll just sharpen them if needed. I love the curved blades. They make cutting easier and faster without lifting the blade up completely. They have a sleek modern look and appear to be made well without grooves to trap bacteria. Another nice feature is the ergonomically design of the handles. They fit comfortably in your hand. Look at the photo of them laying on the counter. The only con I have, and I’m nitpicking here, is the weight of the handles. They are very lightweight compared to wooden handles. It doesn’t change how they function; it just feels different. I’ve been using these for a week though and I’m used to the weight.Overall, definitely five stars. Inexpensive, very functional, classy looks and well made. Great gift for someone starting their first home or anyone just needing a matching set of knives that say “Look at me! I’m not a chef, but I sure do cook!”

Great starter set, but would benefit from more solid handles and a wooden block

If you are just starting out in your first home or apartment and are looking for a good set of knives, this will work. The blades on them are sharp and will get the job done. I have an expensive set already, but it is always good to keep more available. As you can see from some of the images, I didn't have a problem cutting up left over grilled steak and chicken. The kitchen knife was great for cutting up vegetables and I used the utility blade for finer cuts on the green pepper to remove the the pieces I won't eat. I didn't have any difficulty in cutting through uncooked bacon with the shears.I like the look of these knives. The black carbon blades would look good in any kitchen. The look of the wooden handles compliment the blades.I would give an extra star for this set if they had a better feel while using them. The handles just don't feel like they physically work with the nice blades attached to them. They just feel too light. Like they're hollow. The knife block being plastic doesn't help the look either. It just detracts from how nice the blades are. If they would have included a wooden block along with interior sharpeners, it would have made me feel like this set was closer on par with the more expensive versions available. As it is, you'd have to purchase a knife sharpener separate to keep them sharp.I ran them through a dishwasher cycle and I didn't see any etching on the blades or any type of water leaking into the handles. All together if I were just starting out, I would be very happy to have these in my kitchen. I just wish they had better weight in the handles and used a wooden knife block.

Absolutely gorgeous. Knives cut like butter.

I ordered the Astercook Knife Set, 6-Piece Kitchen Knife Set with Block because I honestly had one single tiny knife in my kitchen, and I'd had it for over a decade, and it was dull, and really wouldn't even cut anything anymore, even after trying to sharpen it with tin foil.So I thought it was time to get an actual knife set, and this exceeds my expectations! The dark corrugated wood exterior is honestly gorgeous—rich, modern, and somehow fits in with literally any kitchen vibe. It’s the kind of piece that makes people say “Ooh, where’d you get that?” before they even notice the knives.Functionally, it’s just as impressive. The block has plenty of slots, sort of a corrupgated arrangement as you can see from the images, and it would hold far more knifes than come with the set.The set comes with nearly everything you actually need: a cleaver, a large chef’s knife, a medium knife, a utility knife, and a pair of kitchen shears. I guess the only one missing would be one of those bread knifes with the serrrated edge? I don't cut up any bread, so really don't mind not having that. Each piece feels sturdy and well-balanced, not flimsy or “starter set” quality. So far the knifes perform so much better than the 3 inch tiny knife I had, that I am beyond thrilled.Granted, I'm not a chef and have nothing to really compare it to, but it cut through a tomato without squishing the living daylights out of it and sending juice everywhere! So that's a win for me!And while you may use this every day, it is so nice looking that it feels to me like a decoration, sort of. Like art. Maybe that's a weird thing to say about a knife block, but hey. The only ones I've seen are just plain wood blocks with slots, nothing like this.I'm so happy I ordered this, and I would absolutely give it as a gift, or recommend it!
